Entrance exams results announcement at TOUDAI

This is an old video from 2007 but 2 days ago we had something similar in the university. I was almost moved to tears when I saw people making a new successful step in their lives.

Congrats all new students! (wishing to go back again to my undergrad days!)

美しい東大::Beautiful TOUDAI

@三四郎池
Today's best shots at SANSHIROU pond!
It was late afternoon when I took the pictures that's why they look a little dark.
I should have gone earlier today when it was still sunny. Anyway, hope you'll enjoy today's shots!

I finished my Rinko presentation on 17th, finally submitted all the required 6 reports yesterday and attended the looooong poster presentation sessions (9:00AM~5:20PM) today, in which 2nd year master students present their progress in research.
This means I finished my first year of the master course.. It's time to switch my brain to the power-save mode and relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxxxxx.

Summer Memories 4: The countdown before the entrance exams

One more addition to the old summer memories series of posts.
The period before the entrance exams was one of the most stressful times I ever had in my life.
I remember how my life system completely changed in that period..
I was like a prisoner in my room, going out just to buy food, met no human other than people I see on my way to the convenience store, staying awake until 5 or 6pm, then waking up again at 4pm..

Poor redbull can. I released all my stress on it.

It's amazing how "sounds" can store memories. There are a number of songs I used to play all the time while studying. Now when I listen to them, all the memories and the feelings of uncertainty and anxiousness just come back to me.
Not only songs, but also the semi (Cicada) sounds carry many memories of stress and worry.
Will talk about Cicada in the last summer memories post. Hope I will have time to make it..or maybe I will post it during the semi season of this year.

Trying to encourage myself

Makes me wonder what kind of mental state I had at that time

One day before the big battle - Never touched a book that day and had some rest

So here I am! I thank God 10000000 times for making me able to come this far.
I wish all new comers the best of luck!

Sakura Quest Final

Here comes the post of the extremely extraordinary special great nice shots with the extremely nice special blue sky(TM).
Watch on your own responsibility and remember HQ for videos!

Ueno Park 6th of April

Trying to follow the style of our tea master, Ocha dono

Notice the sakura petal snow!
Scroll down to see a video of this.

More than 1000 trees in full bloom

Natural VS Artificial

Tokyo university 8th of April(Today!)

「まるで雪みたい!」というセリフが一番最初に思い浮かんだ。
It reminded me of this :
秒速5センチメートル 5 Centimeters per second

Sakura petals falling down like snow are one of the most beautiful things I saw. They carry this mysterious feeling of beauty mixed with light sadness on very short lasting wonderful moments of life...
When I see aging people stop by and stare at the nice scene, I understand their thoughts and feelings.

I hereby finish my sakura quest posts series!
The new semester started and deadlines started to follow me one after the other~ The more I advance in research the harder tasks become.
Will do my best!

Step by step into a busy life

This is a fresh picture that I took minutes ago of my desk in the lab. It's 8:40 PM and it's still VERY EARLY to go back home..
Recently life is becoming very busy for me and I spend looooong times in the lab. Most of the time I come here at 10:00AM and leave near 11:00PM.
In other words, I use my home for sleeping only!

I have to submit my research topic (only the title)during the coming 2 days and I need to do a lot of reading before I decide~!

I forgot to blog about the fact that I was allowed to take the Japanese language intensive course level 4 !
I am really glad, even though I know this is going to make me much busier but improving my Japanese is also one of my goals.
Actually the selection was very strict because people are not usually allowed to take the intensive course twice, to give chances for new students. (We can apply but whether we are allowed to take it or not depends on #1: Number of new students, #2: result at a placement exam #3: result of an interview)...at last I was the only student of class3 who was allowed to take level 4 ^^; I am gonna miss my nice class 3 friends~

By the way, the "summer memories" series is still incomplete. I think I still have 2 or 3 more posts about it..will hopefully do them soon, but with the current commenting statistics I dont feel encouraged to write them any time soon :p

五月祭@東大::May's festival @Toudai

Summer is the festivals season in Japan.
This time's festival is different. It is the May festival of the University of Tokyo, sometimes better translated as "May's Fair".

A lot of people infront of the AKAMON

The festival Mascot .. I think that it's very fuuny

In front of the Yasuda auditorium.. A lot of preparations were being held in front of it.

A lot of booths for food and games were there..a lot of performances all over the campus. It felt that I was in an amusement park w!
But..I ignored all these and was looking for one thing..only one thing, the Taiko(Drums) performance!

I LOVE TAIKO performances! They really can build energy inside me.. and can easily reach and move my "acquired" Yamato spirit! w

The first performance I ever saw was in Jordan's most famous festival, "Jerash festival", when a Japanese group from Osaka made a great taiko performance..this was like 5 or 6 years ago, when I was still a high school student.
At that time, my motivation to go and see that performance was only because its a Japanese performance, but after it I became deeply interested in Taiko! .. And really wanted to "Hit" one!

But I was lucky to have a chance to drum on the taiko in summer last year... and I did it with passion! To get a better understanding of what I meant by "with passion", watch the video below! (JULY 2007 - Kyouto)

...Back to our main topic!
The festival spans 2 days. Today was the 2nd. I was planning to go yesterday, but I found the weather not encouraging..

The TAIKO group in front of the General Library, Toudai Hongou Campus

See the videos of today's performance, they are just GREAT!!!!

That was, again, GREAAATTTTT!
Of course the festival included a lot of musical and other performances..but this is the most nihon-ppoi thing I found! :) Once it was finished, I headed back home to finish the mountain of study that I have ^^;
